An Arcade Sketchbook
Moving Pixels in ink.
I remember buying the Pac-Man anniversary sketchbook set a few years ago. I thought about filling it with arcade inspired drawings. It took me a while to get around to it, but I did manage to draw a few inspiring games. Also, the game cabinet itself. I’ve always considered pinball machines and the arcade cabinets to be a work of art.
Once the arcade showed up at the mall, that was it for me. Soon, I was dumping rolls of quarters into Dragon’s Lair and Star Wars. It was an amazing time to be 12.
Here is a small gallery of these drawings. I’ve always gravitated to the more obscure games like Crystal Castles. Always liked the giant rollerball used in Missile Command and Centipede. The Nintendo also brought with it so much inspiration. It’s been exciting to watch it evolve over the years.

Thanks to PastTimes Arcade in Girard, OH. A well-kept time capsule with playable vintage games. Worth a visit.
